In K1 our goal is to introduce and develop readiness skills.  These readiness skills lay a foundation for a successful school career.  In K1 we use the OWL curriculum.  Opening the World of Learning (OWL) is a comprehensive early literacy program that prepares children for success.  The curriculum covers the following domains of learning:

  • Language and Literacy
  • Social Studies
  • Science
  • The Arts
  • Physical Development (fine and gross motor skills)
  • Social and Emotional Development.

We start each day having breakfast in the cafeteria, followed by morning meeting, where we welcome each other with songs.
Depending on the day we have centers or specialties (Mandaring, PE, Music, Enrichment).

We also use Building Blocks, a program that builds upon children's mathematical experiences through activities.

In the afternoon, there is quiet time when children can take a nap or rest.  After resting we go outside or to a specialty depending on the day.  We often spend time with stories and music.
